Richmond Property Group

RPG is a non-profit, 501(c)7 whose sole purpose is the preservation and protection, ownership and management of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity houses for the benefit of ATO.

Since 2001, RPG has been in the business of safeguarding assets for current and future generations. With over 50 years of combined experience in acquisitions, construction, development, financing, brokerage and facility management, our team is well positioned to assist you with each of your needs.

Our History

RPG was founded in 2001 to address growing losses of real estate assets from the ATO family and to create a repository of ownership.  Since its founding RPG has grown in both size and scope of services offered.

Headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, RPG currently owns and operates properties at over 15 universities from coast to coast.  In addition to property ownership and management, RPG offers financing, consulting and insurance services, as well as a host of operational resources.

RPG is organized as a 501(c)(7) corporation and is governed by the RPG Board of Directors.

The RPG Staff is uniquely constructed to handle all aspects of today’s housing issues.  With over 100 years of combined experience in their fields of expertise, we’re confident our team has the knowledge and wisdom to lead RPG successfully into the future.

Wynn Smiley

Chief Executive Officer
Wynn SmileyIn 1997, after six years as ATO’s director of communications, Mr. Smiley became the chief executive officer of Alpha Tau Omega.  In 2001, ATO founded and Mr. Smiley now serves as Chief Executive Officer of Richmond Property Group, a wholly controlled subsidiary of Alpha Tau Omega. The mission of RPG is to preserve ATO chapter houses for use by ATOs.  As CEO, Mr. Smiley oversees the day to day operations of the National Fraternity and RPG.   


Mr. Smiley serves in several positions within the interfraternal community including president of the Fraternity Executives Association a past member of the board of directors for the North-American Interfraternity Conference, the board of directors and past president of the Fraternal Information Programming Group, chairman of the Fraternity Sorority Coalition Assessment and chairman of the NIC Standards Committee.






Matt Higgins

Chief Operating Officer, Management & Finance

2019_Headshots (22 of 29) After serving as ATO National’s Chief Operating Officer, Matt began working with RPG in 2006.  As Chief Operating Officer with RPG, his primary responsibilities include corporate operations, finance, marketing, insurance, regulatory affairs, RPG’s house corporation insurance program and RPG consulting services.  Outside the office, Matt enjoys spending time with his family and being active.




Shannon Simmons

Accounting Manager

2019_Headshots_Shanon (1 of 1)Shannon joined ATO & RPG in 2008, with over 25 years of accounting experience.  Shannon has worked in various industries, including restaurant, manufacturing and retail accounting.  Shannon oversees all aspect of the accounting department for both ATO and RPG, from payables and receivables to financial statements and audits.



Sarah Layton

Director of Facilities and Design

Sarah joined the RPG team in 2017.  She oversees all local property managers, property maintenance, and vendors.  Sarah is an interior designer by trade, and has worked previously with other Fraternities specializing in project management, property management and full scale house renovations.  She enjoys being a volunteer in the community and spending time outdoors hiking and traveling with her family.    

 

Tyler Morgan

Asset Manager

TylerCompressedTyler joined the RPG team in 2019. He is a graduate of the Kelley School of Business. Outside or work, Tyler enjoys traveling and renovating rental homes in the Indianapolis area.
